With 35 markets participating in the program, it has been a banner year for Maryland Market Money, and after extensive data analysis, it seems that, with the exception of markets in Prince Georges County, the markets have exhausted our funding for matching. Although this means we will have to end Maryland Market Money matching at most markets, the silver lining is that the program reached a record number of food-insecure Marylanders and boosted the sales of farmers throughout our region. So far, in 2019, Maryland Market Money participating shoppers have spent $581,537 in MMM and nutrition benefits with hundreds of local farmers.
Please note that three participating farmers markets in Prince Georges County will continue to offer double matching. Thanks to generous funding from the Prince George’s County Council, we are extending the 2-for-1 Match at Cheverly Community Market, Greenbelt Farmers Market, and Riverdale Park Farmers Market through November.
