Cultivating Community and Fighting Hunger One Farmers Market at a Time
Maryland Farmers Market Association is a nonprofit that cultivates a vibrant and sustainable farmers market community in Maryland. We love farmers markets because they support local agricultural producers, provide access to fresh foods, and serve as positive community spaces. Our programs aim to support the economic viability of market farmers and vendors; increase access to quality, nutritious food for all; and improve customers’ farmers market experience.
Letter from the MDFMA BoardMDFMA was founded in 2012 in response to expressed demand from market managers, farmers, and consumers for a centralized organization to coordinate and streamline farmers market programming throughout Maryland.
MDFMA was founded after the completion of a feasibility study funded through a USDA grant, which included an analysis of farmers market associations around the country and Maryland farmers market manager surveys. MDFMA’s programs work in concert to meet our the following goals:
